Building a Flexible Landing Page System that Scales
Front End Development
Drupal's content type system is leveraged to provide an extensible approach for producing feature-rich landing pages. Integration with Organic Groups and other third-party modules enables a custom content permissions architecture.
Each landing page component was designed to present content efficiently and in a visually pleasing way. Each component could easily be added to any landing page and fit right in with all other components on the page.
Davenport University has a variety of departments, special programs, and events that have individual marketing goals.
They needed a system to create custom landing pages for these areas that were attractive, mobile-friendly, and individualized, without having to write specialized code for each.
We designed a system for managing a variety of content blocks that could be dragged and dropped into place to create these unique landing pages. The initial 16 different types of content included image galleries, recent news stories, social media links, testimonials, statistics, and many more. An extensible Drupal architecture allows for the addition of future types of content and maintains integration with the site's sophisticated user permissions scheme.
This new functionality was introduced as part of a larger overhaul of the visual identity of the entire Davenport site. We utilized modern design trends such as large hero images, icons, bold typography, and color blocking to update Davenport's web presence and entice users to explore the pages and continue on to other parts of the site.
